DR. NADEZHDA “NADIA” CHRISTOVA CARMICHAEL

Born and raised in Bulgaria, Dr. Nadia Carmichael has been studying and performing piano since the age of six. She has appeared as a vocal and instrumental collaborator in recitals throughout the United States and Europe. She has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the White House, and the Library of Congress.

Nadia has been an active church pianist and organist since 2011. She has played for Oaklands Presbyterian Church in Laurel, MD and Burke Presbyterian Church in Burke, VA. 

She has enjoyed working with numerous choirs throughout the years - Washington Saengerbund, Ars Musica Chorale, and Brooklyn Youth Chorus to name a few. 

Additionally, Nadia has been teaching piano for over 20 years, founding the Upper West Side piano school in NYC with her husband Sean, as well as the Montclair Piano Academy in Montclair, VA. Currently Nadia teaches most of her students virtually as @theonlinepianoprofessor and specializes in piano lessons for adults. 

In her spare time, Nadia enjoys doing crafts, trying new recipes, and walking in the park with her husband and their two sons Leo and Remy. 

Nadia holds a master’s degree in Piano Performance and Chamber Music from the University of South Florida and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano from the University of Maryland.
