Pastor Adam’s Sabbatical - Work Product:
A Comprehensive Evangelism & Outreach Plan for FUPCDC
This plan will be a roadmap to guide First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City (FUPCDC) in growing its outreach efforts and engaging both the congregation and the wider community in meaningful ways. The key components will include:
Targeted Marketing: Developing strategies to effectively market the church’s message and ministry to those in the local community and beyond. This will include identifying target demographics and tailoring messaging that resonates with them. It will also incorporate digital marketing techniques and traditional methods such as flyers and local event participation.
Training for Current Members and Staff: Empowering the church community to take active roles in evangelism. This will include workshops and training sessions for staff and congregants on how to share their faith, welcome visitors, and engage in outreach initiatives. The training will emphasize that it’s okay to try new things, fail, and learn from the experience.
Visitor Follow-Up Plan: A revamped plan to better engage with visitors and guests. This will include follow-up communications, such as emails, phone calls, or handwritten notes, and a timeline for when and how to check in with guests after their visit. Building relationships is key to converting first-time visitors into long-term members of the church community.
Data Management Review: An evaluation of the current system for managing visitor and guest data, with recommendations for improvement. This could involve adopting a new customer relationship management (CRM) system to streamline follow-up, communication, and tracking of visitors, as well as automating some of the processes to ensure timely and consistent engagement.
New Member and Friend of the Church Program Review: A review of the current program for welcoming new members and “Friends of the Church” to ensure it aligns with the church’s mission of welcoming and growing together. This will include content updates and structural improvements that provide a clearer path for newcomers to integrate into the life of the church.
“Next Steps” Class: Developing a plan for a new class designed specifically to help new attendees get involved quickly and feel connected. This class will focus on introducing new people to the core values, mission, and ministry opportunities at FUPCDC and will offer them tangible next steps to take on their faith journey.
